WHAT IS CONDUCTIVE EDUCATION?

Conductive Education is an ALTERNATIVE REHABILITATION methodology for children and adults with cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, post-stroke conditions, and other brain injuries. It is an HOLISTIC APPROACH aimed at the individual's physical, intellectual, and emotional needs that makes it particularly attractive to families who seek to prepare their children for later life.

Conductive Education teaches basic motor, cognitive, and emotional skills such as:

  • Crawling
  • Sitting
  • Standing
  • Walking
  • Self-feeding
  • Potty training
  • Self-esteem
  • Confidence
  • Self-care

Conductive Education can be viewed either as an alternative or supplement to traditional physical or occupational therapy. Conductive Education differs from these therapies in that it is a comprehensive rehabilitation method that takes advantage of the subject's neuroplasticity to achieve practical goals while treating the whole person.

WHAT HAPPENS IN CONDUCTIVE EDUCATION?

Conductive Education involves a rigorous program of DAILY ACTIVITIES designed to take advantage of the brain’s neuroplasticity to develop new neural pathways that can be used to accomplish basic physical skills. A rigorous daily routine develops a PROBLEM-SOLVING WORK ETHIC essential for overcoming challenges. Rigorous attention is given to improving the child's posture, body position, and balance to prepare them for more advanced physical activities later on.

This kind of brain retraining re-builds and re-trains the neural pathways needed to achieve greater abilities.

VIDEOS

Visit our YouTube channel to see examples of how children with cerebral palsy move through a series of tasks that allows the child to progressively learn different motor and functional skills applicable to everday situations.

Learning different movements in different body positions allows them to build upon small victories that can ultimately enable them to improve their abilities. Special needs children must go through an educational process where they consciously recognize and consider what they are doing and how they are doing it. Eventually, the child learns to take personal responsibility, focus their attention, solve problems, and act properly under varying circumstances.
